have been doing really well for the past few weeks sticking to diet and exercise plan fell hard today it's not even 1 pm and I'm already 200 calories over my daily goal!!! Why do I do this??! Ugh

I feel your pain. Boredom? Find something to do anything physical. Put some gum in your mouth and occupy your mind as well. I have discovered I want to eat when I watch TV or I'm bored or stressed.0

Maybe your dieting is feeling too strict for something long term. I give myself a break every Sunday. I can then stay focused better during the week, knowing I can go to a restaurant, or have a bowl of ice cream.0

We have our ebbs and flows -- don't be so hard on yourself. If you can, put this morning behind you and go from this moment forward. I know -- easier said, than done! Is there any way you can get some exercise in to feel like you have offset what you have eaten? If it makes you feel any better -- been there, done that....repeatedly but I am determine to have good days again and I know you will too!0

It might pay to do a deep think as to the reasons, and be kind to yourself. This speaker offers that when it comes to our mental health, we somehow think it is OK to cut deeper when we are hurt. No. If we have a scrape on our knee, we clean it and bandage it.

What is your normal daily deficit? Did 200 calories over goal erase it?0

My normal deficit fluctuates the problem today was I ate a bag (yes entire bad) is almonds pistachios and cranberries so by early afternoon I was already over calories for the day! Talk about a bad decision and mindless eating! I didn't eat dinner and walked 3 miles on the treadmill to try to burn some of what I ate but there is so much sugar and fat in what I ate I honestly can't believe I did I it! Thanks for listening sorry for whining!0

MFP set a daily deficit based on your initial settings. If you set it to lose one pound per week, that deficit should be 500 calories per day.0 -

Just re-read what you said 500 calorie deficit per day??? No wonder I'm not losing as I had hoped no way have I been hitting that deficit. Thank you for that info!0

Let's start at the beginning. What did you put as your settings when you set up MFP?
How much did you set it to lose per week?

MFP has the deficit built into the calorie goal it has given you, so you don't have to do any math. If you're not losing the way you think you should be by following MFPs recommendation, just be patient and keep doing what you're doing. Weight loss is not linear. If after a month or two, you aren't averaging the amount of weight-loss you're striving for, then maybe you should take a look at how accurate your logging is. No worries - you've got this. Don't let one day of going over your calories derail you. I did that plenty and still managed to lose weight. I STILL do that on a semi-regular basis, and have been maintaining a 70 pound loss for quite a while. :flowerforyou:0

A couple of weeks ago i ate 500 calories over my daily allotment and guess what? I lost 2 lbs the next day!!!!! It's about the week not the day! Cut a tiny bit from your next few days and you will be right as rain!0
