Consuming sugar

Hello All,

Almost every day I am very close or over the recommended amount of my daily sugar intake. However 90% of the sugars I consume are coming from fruit. I am not much of a sweet/candy eater. I rarely consume anything processed with sugar.

Is this something that can be concerning?

No...not unless you're diabetic or other medical condition that would require you to closely mointor it.

MFP's sugar 'recommendation' is notoriously low for all practical purposes. I think it's based on the AHA's recommendation for daily ADDED sugars or something.

I keep sugars that are not from fruits and veggies at about 20g a day. So, I watch closely bread, pastas, packaged food, etc. My reason for doing this is because of inflammation. When I eat a lot of it (and this is tested by only me and for my body), my hands are stiffer the next day...my joints ache a lot more the next day. Under 20g works for me. Truth be told, I am usually at about 10g...adding fruits and veggies, somewhere between 20 and 30.

You can change the columns of food diary to list other things than sugar. It's listed in the Settings for the Food Diary.

what he said! I just track other things like iron and calcium. I do not worry about naturally occurring sugars but do seriously limit added sugars.

What everyone else said. I had one day where cauliflower was the highest sugar item I ate and it threw me over my limit.
