Do you still eat things with added salt?

No, I rarely eat anything with added salt in it. Keeping sodium intake below 1200 mg/day has made the difference between high blood pressure + meds or low blood pressure minus meds. Easy choice for me. And very happy this way.

Yep. I also salted the heck out of my mashed potatoes tonight. They were very tasty.

I'm a complete salt monster. It's over in my diary every day, and that doesn't even include the salt I ADD to my food. It kind of messes up my weigh ins I think, but....whatever?

I had a low-sodium, recognise every word on the ingredient list, all natural soup in a can the other day. It was awful! Totally tasteless. It wasn't cheap, either!

    That sounds awful.

Canned soup is not a favorite food of mine anyway (there are a select few that I'll eat in a pinch) but stick a health label on there and you might as well eat murky pond water.

    Amy's, right?

I like Campbell's minestrone for a fast dinner. I usually put lentils in there and maybe extra green beans or asparagus.

I love crisps, crackers etc, but they must have so much salt added. It can't be good for you!!!
They certainly can--if they fit within your sodium budget for the day! Like most things, sodium in moderation is okay and some is even essential for a healthy body. :)

Funny, I was just reading about this study yesterday: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/salt-linked-to-autoimmune-diseases/

It basically says that eating too much "refined" salt in the American diet is linked to autoimmune disorders like MS, asthma, eczema, etc.

I found it somewhat problematic because the articles about the study seemed to be saying that it was the refined salt itself that was the problem, rather than the absence of minerals caused by the refining process. As in, perhaps if less salt was eaten, then the disorders wouldn't happen, rather than saying that the lack of minerals may have contributed to the development of these disorders. Perhaps the authors of the articles didn't properly understand the study, and it was just the one study, and I've no idea of the parameters, but since it was about consuming salt (particularly "refined" salt) I thought I'd share.

ETA: nope, sorry, it was 3 studies, not 1.

I put kosher salt on my chocolate chip cookies before baking. Salt sets off chocolate like nobody's business.

The only processed food that I eat almost every day is kimchi. I eat moderate carb and I do intermittent fasting. I need salt to avoid dehydration.
