Drinking water...hunger and shrinking your stomach

I have a question...everyone says drink water when you are hungry...helps you to feel full. I am wondering...does that prevent your stomach from shrinking, or is shrinking your stomach a fallacy?

Shrinking your stomach isn't a fallacy. I was quite depressed about a month ago and didn't eat much. This caused my stomach to shrink and now I can only eat very small portions. Just stop when you're full though, don't try and force more food inside you just because it doesn't look like you've eaten a lot, this will just stretch your stomach again. As for water I really don't know but I'd imagine in large quantities it would prevent your stomach from shrinking. If you're drinking it till you feel full then definitely. Water is best sipped throughout the day protein helps you feel full longer. Also sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger so drink a glass of water 10 mins before you eat something. I'd actually suggest drinking something with a small amount of sugar in like low sugar squash or juice as often you can feel hungry when your blood sugar is low. A trick of mine to fill myself up is a small glass of tomato juice and Worcester sauce. Never thought I'd like it but a friend forced me to try it once and I love the stuff. Really filling and good for you x0

No shrinking your stomach is not a fallacy. I managed to do it by decreasing my portion sizes and eating more frequently throughout the day. I cannot eat as much in one sitting as I could when I was in 6th grade! lol And like someone said above, sipping at water throughout the day also helps. I've never found water to help me feel full and when I drank a ton of water on an empty stomach, I'd end up in the bathroom! lol But, sometimes when you are feeling hungry, it can be that you're really thirsty so it always helps to try to drink water first and see if that helps..0
