Loss in motivation :(

it was my sisters birthday yesterday so we went to a Greek restaurant and i was trying to be careful but overstepped by entitlements (consumed total of 1, 560) and then today in depression from last night (and the fact i couldnt exercise this morning as the baby was up all night with colic) ate a whole cheesecake- coming up to 1,700 in total.
Tommorrow is my colleagues birthday so we are going for a lunch time chinese buffet- i made every excuse to get out of it but she happens to be a good friend and it would look very anti social. Then on Saturday my in laws and hubby and me are going for a musical and then a Brazilian buffet afterwards.
Once a upon a time i was a buffet fan, nothing could stop me......i would eat till i could barely move.
Now since i have been on MFP, going out to dinner has been the worst nightmare and there seems to be no getting out of it.
I know once food is there i will not be able to stop myself- (i managed to loose the weight by planning planning planning, i would plan every day what i would eat and when i would exercise) but it seems birthdays/family events are like buses....nothing for ages and then June comes and everything is one after the other.
any support will be appreciated....i am feeling very bad about myself. I thought i would have reached by goal by June (started late April) but i still have 16 lbs to loose and food seems to be EVERYWHERE...nice, delicious, calorie caked food and with all this temptation, i am falling off the 'wagon'

Try not to go crazy at the buffets and add some extra exercise in there to compensate. It's hard when there's a bunch of events at the same time but you'll be o.k. Eating out a bit more one week isn't going to cause you to gain 5 lbs unless you plan on taking full advantage of the "buffet" aspect of the meals. Just select a normal size portion and try and make some healthier choices and enjoy! Workout extra hard that day or the next to reduce some of the guilt and you're good to go!0

If this is going to be a lifestyle change and not a quick fix then you'll have to learn how to deal with those special occasions and surprise social engagements that always seem to come up.
I totally understand where you're coming from. I lost most of my weight during a year where everyone I know was getting married. The number of showers, dinners, cake tastings, etc. that I attended had me literally in tears at times when my weight loss stalled. It reached the point that my therapist asked me to find a better way to balance my life or quit my diet entirely.
My advice to you would be to relax and take it slow. Enjoy the company of your friends and family and celebrate with them. Don't set deadlines on your weight loss. They'll only make the process worse, in my experience. You will lose the weight at your own pace.
Make the healthiest choices you can when you're out with family. Go in with a strategy of what you can eat and what you can't. Practice saying no when someone offers you dessert (or whatever your weakness is). Find some way to keep yourself busy and not thinking about food during the meal. Talk more, draw on a napkin, anything to keep your hands and brain busy. Exercise more so that you can indulge when the time comes. And mostly, just try to enjoy yourself within reason.0 -
These events and outings are always going to happen, so we need to learn how to deal with them in a healthy manner.
Try and eat a healthy snack and drinking a big glass of water BEFORE going out, so you are not as hungry when you get there. Look at the menu ahead of time and decide what you can get and stick with that choice (a little harder at a buffet, but not impossible). Reward yourself for sticking to your goals! Not with food, but with something else - new workout shoes, a new outfit, buy new songs for a new workout mix.
You can do this, stick with it and 6 months, a year, and longer you will be happy you did!0 -
Thanks Ladies....really appreciate your wise words
Yup..tommorrow is another day to turn it all around0
