are you supposed to eat your exercise calories?

That's how MFP is designed to work, yes. However the general consensus is that the values given by MFP for calorie burns for most exercises are grossly inflated, so opting to eat back only a portion of them is recommended - I've seen recommended anywhere from 50-75% of what MFP tells you.0

I have been using them as my cushion. It works great on days that I am extra hungry especially at night. Today is day ten for me for logging my food and its felt more like a game than a diet or weigh loss site lol0

some do, some don't.
when i was at 1200 cals/ day i ate back my exercise calories cause i was starving. changed it to 1600 and now dont *usually* eat them back, simply because im not hungry.0
