Hey guys,

I consider losing weight more of a hobby so I ask, is there is a big difference between the fitbit and the iPhone app? I like to know my steps for the novelty of it but I havent found much on the accuracy of the iPhone app. I know it tracks steps using its gyroscope which can be a little inaccurate seeing it is a phone and not a fitness device.

Anywho, what have guys noticed between the two?

If you are just curious about tracking steps, then I'd suggest buying an inexpensive pedometer (around $20). It gets the job done with regard to step counting, it's less expensive than a Fitbit (since you don't seem interested in more than step counting) and you can clip it to your clothing, so it will keep on counting even if you've put your iPhone down somewhere.

A good point haha I think I have one laying around too. I get spoiled with the integration between MFP and the apps haha

    This^

You have to be careful though. The newer ones are trying to compete with FitBits, etc. and have become pretty pricey. If you can't find something in the $20 range (Omron HJ-112 is excellent....was $20'ish but hard to find now) ... just get the low end FitBit Zip ($49).....at least those are nice for syncing with MFP, etc.
