Today my boss brought in some donuts from Dunkin Donuts for our Friday morning staff meeting. I ate a glazed donut. Now I am trying to log it. I see in the database here as well as DD's website that there are glazed donuts (260 calories) and glazed cake donuts (360 calories). I cannot figure out what I had! Anyone care to help?

cake donuts are totally different. Was it a "regular" donut? if so, that's the 260 cal one.

Cake donuts have a more crumbly, dense texture, while glazed are the soft, fluffy kind.

It was a regular donut. A Google image search gave me similar pictures for both types so I was confused. Thanks for the help.

I used to be a baker.

What is referred to as a glazed donut is a yeast raised donut. It is light and sort of fluffy inside.

A glazed cake donut is heavier and denser inside. The cake donut would also be darker in appearance most likely.
