hey, I've let my intake drop and lost quite a bit of weight, and really need to get back up to a better place. unfortunately, everything I eat or drink causes severe stomach cramps and bloating. my doctor says it's probably my metabolism needing to speed up and I'll have to deal with it for a while. any advice?

I'd get a second opinion from a gastroenterologist.0

if your DR truly said that, get a new DR, because you are going to a quack …
your metabolism is always running it does not "need to speed up"0 -
Yea...that is not normal. I mean, adjusting to new food can be somewhat of a time-consuming process if you're not used to them or sensitive to them. For example some veggies can cause gas and bloating, but it gets easier with time. But severe cramps and bloating from *everything* you eat? Something seems off.0

see a gastroenterologist. You may have some problem you're unaware of.0
