Splenda/sucralose causing massive carb cravings?

I've been complaining for a while of pretty bad carb cravings, the feeling that I need to eat some carbs or I'm going to pass out. I think I've narrowed it down... PMS aside, it seems to happen when I have my protein pudding powder, Quest s'mores, or Dannon light and fit... all of which have sucralose.

Has anyone else noticed this? It seems ok if I have them as dessert but if I have them as a snack, I go crazy an hour later. Coincidence?

No link for me. I use Splenda all the time and have no cravings. That doesn't mean it's not a problem for you.

Do a trial where you eliminate it and see what happens.

I've noticed this aswell anytime I have one of the quest bars that's sweetened with sucralose, so I try and stick to the ones with erythitol. Also anytime I had whey powder sweetened with sucralose, now I only buy grass fed whey factors with stevia, and it makes me full.

Not personally, but I only have it in very small quantities, and usually by accident.

There is someone on reddit who has been testing different LC foods using multiple meters. He got a spike from a Quest bar, and after people were debating the possible causes, did a comparison with a Clif Builders bar (link to his first test is in there, too). They had similar spikes, even though the Clif bar has a lot more carbs. Later, he used chicken breast for a control, and it was much lower than the protein bars.

The ongoing debate was still if it was caused by one of the sweeteners or some other common ingredient between the two.

i just typed up a whole message and poof.

    #upgrades... gah...

the short version was this: if you find that those sugar substitutes are giving you cravings for additional carbs, and it's too hard to resist, you may be better off to just eat the real sugar items in the first place, because you'd only eat the one item instead of the additional items trying to satisfy the craving.

I use artificial sweeteners with no issues, but everyone is different.
