Can varicose veins be healed?

I have now lost 5 stone (70lb) and think my varicose veins look a bit better. I have recently started exercising and wondered if they are improving because of that or because of losing weight or if I'm imagining it.

It may not be in your head...about 5 years ago, I was out with a friend and for some reason, while sitting down really looked at my legs and noticed I had what looked like varicose veins. I was so upset, esp since I was only in my early 30s... even my friend was like, wow, that doesnt look good at all!!! Once I saw them, I coudlnt unsee them! It was bad.
Immediately, I stopped crossing my legs at the knees whenever I sit, and I had started going for walks. Unrelated, but I did end up losing 30lbs, and after I did that, the veins in my legs went back to normal. All in all, it was about 1.5-2 years from the time I noticed them, to the time they went away.0
