Hello from Southern California. Please don't hate me because we have great weather and the rest of the country is getting a cold spell!
I used to use MFP back in the day but after some tough things going on in my life, and the lives of my parents, I quit using it, and entered a period of depression.
I am 5'11 and last year I hit 200 lbs. For me, who was 150 lbs through college (graduated at 29), and have always been relatively thin - 200 lbs. was a crushing reminder of my aging, my humanity, and most importantly, that I had failed to keep my body in good condition.
Most of my day is sedentary - sitting in an office, staring at computer screens. I do walk around quite a bit to avoid getting restless, and I try to walk at lunch.
Anyway, I'm down to about 188, which is good, but not anywhere near my goal of 160 lbs.
My father, at age 63 also was around 200 lbs, and 18 months ago he had 99% blockage in his main artery, and 80% in another. The doctor told him to exercise, or he would risk dying. So he did, and now weighs less than I do (and looks great!).
It hit me that my father didn't hit 200 until his late 50's early 60's, and here I was, at 39, overweight at 200 lbs.
I have a young face - I'm blessed with that, but I want the body to go with it.
Call me vain, but hey, if that's the motivation it takes for me to get in shape - I'm all for it.
Anyway, I have the Galaxy S5, so I use S-Health to track my steps throughout the day, but I'm nowhere near the 10,000 steps I should be taking.
What I would like from the community are friends (anyone local?), and those who would help motivate and support me!
So if you'd like to lose weight, or just need someone to motivate you, please feel free to drop me a line!
Eric
