Hey everyone. I am on day 17 of insanity I have not lost a pound. I increased my calories today. I redid the math and I am supposed to consume at least 2,000 a day. Is this true? That seems like a lot.

When you say you have increased your calories and re did the math, I am assuming you are referring to the Roadmap method of calculating your TDEE? If so, then that may be right, as it does tend to be high. I know I freaked for a while when I learned that I could eat 2027 cals per day (just started that last week). As for not losing a pound yet, this may be so, but more importantly are you losing inches? This you will probably notice first. Day 24 here, I manage to lose a couple of pounds (but I also have a lot of weight to lose) but it is how the clothes fit that really impress me. Inches lost!

I just started Month 2 of Insanity and i eat 1500 cals a day and use my bodymedia for cal burn and ensure that i use up exercise cals so that i have about a 500 deficit everyday. I actually gained 4 lbs in that Month 1 but lost 4 inches.

I believe its normal for month 1 to see not a huge change. I couldn't tell you on cals because i use my bodymedia. Hope you can figure it out :)

Have you been tracking your measurements? When you start a new workout program, particularly one as intense as Insanity, you are going to create microtears in your muscles (resulting in the after-workout soreness). As a defensive mechanism, your body causes inflamation of the area around the tears, resulting in significant water retention. This can cause you to gain a few pounds over the first two to two and a half weeks, but it is not real weight. If you keep with it, you should see this water retention recede and the scale go back down. Looking at your measurements will give you a better indication of your actual results (this is why the program tells you to take your measurements when you do the fit test). Stick with it. You'll see results.
