Gaining weight - need help to stop snacking

So recently my weight has gone up... A lot.
In the space of about two weeks I've gone from about 8.5 stone to 8.9 stone. I thought this was just because A. I went on holiday and therefore had some extra calories to account for and B. It was 'that time of the month' which usually means quite a hefty bit of water retention. However, that time has been and [almost] gone and yet I am still at 8.9 stone.
I fear it's because I've been snacking and not logging, but I'm finding it really hard not to pick at stuff, especially when I get home from college and as I work as a waitress there is always food about to munch on. More than anything, I'm asking for advice on how to stop these snacking urges? Especially when at work and the food is just there for me to eat.
I'm really worried that I am just putting on more and more weight and I really can't afford that.

Chew gum. Drink water. Plan some snack calories into your day. Maybe try only snacking on things you can log? (IE carrots over lasagna)0

I know how you feel- I am surrounded by temptation almost daily. People at work bring in donuts, cookies, cake, etc. It's really hard sometimes especially when they come around directly to you with a plate of WARM cookies and say would you like one? Sometimes I have one and just log it and exercise more so I can afford it, and sometimes I just say no thanks! It's easier to resist once you start making a habit of it. Sometimes I just think that I don't want to spend my calories on that piece of cake. All that being said- it's okay to indulge every once in a while. I don't make anything off limits. Just watch portion and fit it into calorie goals for the day.0

What kind of help do you want? We can't do it for you -- it's all up to you.
There is nothing we can tell you that you don't already know.
Just stop.
Really.

I have been reading a lot about killing the cravings, Which can be the same thing as snacking, for me anyways. Multiple articles suggest that eating more proteins make you feel full longer. So I try to eat a breakfast burrito or egg sandwiches with meat and cheese or cottage cheese for breakfast and I realize I mindlessly feel satisfy and snack less. Also, Dr Oz says don't eat for 12 hours straight...from 8pm and 8am for example. He says it resets something in our brain (can't remember the name of the hormone) that causes us not to crave as much. Sugar also blocks lepton, the hormone that tells our brain that we are satisfied.0
