Set per Side or Set per Total?

I'm not sure how to record my sets...
Should I do set per side or should I do set per total done both sides?

Ie. Side Lunges

Set 1 right side, 10 reps. Set 2 left side, 10 reps...

OR

Right side 10 reps + left side 10 reps = 1 set of 10 reps for lunges

    Does it make a difference?

    Personally a set is equal numbers on both sides to me

    As long as you record things the same way every time, and know what it means to you, does it really matter which way you do it?

    That being said, I always think a set is the equal number on both sides.
