I have 5-8 pounds left to lose and I hit my peak. Should I change my diet more or my work out routine? I just feel really discouraged right now.

No, you should be patient. The last pounds are always the hardest to lose.0 -
So my bf left for his deployment months ago. It was hard cuz i missed him and I was eating a lot and the holidays never helped. Well after that was all over I finally lost 10 pounds and my goal is 15 pounds. I got 5 more to go before he comes home. One of my friends hit her goal and I feel discouraged. She lost over 30 pounds in 4 months and I can't even loose 5 more pounds. I just feel hopeless.0

Don't feel that way. Losing that quickly isn't really healthy. There's a greater chance your friend will put it back on. Slow and steady is a better, healthier approach. Don't think of it as a diet, in fact don't think about it at all.
Yes do it, but don't let it be the centre of your life. Remember this needs to be a lifestyle change, it shouldn't become your whole existance. It should just be a part of it.
Be patient. You didn't put it on overnight, don't expect it to come off overnight. Love yourself enough to take care of yourself without doing something dangerous.

Before I met my bf I was very small and worked out everyday now things in my life has changed. I still eat very healthy and it's still part of my lifestyle but its hard managing your weight when you have feel like you've failed. I know I can hit my goal, I've done it before. I just can't remember how I did it the last time. Before I started eating healthy and teaching fitness I had a hard time eating at all in HS. But in college I started teaching fitness and ate healthier. I don't drink soda and I cut out beef and pork from my diet 5 years ago. I just want to do this all the healthy way.0

For weight loss, all you need is a caloric deficit. Your body doesn't care how healthy you eat, if you consume more energy than it requires to function per day, it will store the excess energy as fat. It doesn't care from which food you get the energy.
Therefore, to lose, you need to eat less than you burn per day. If there is a shortage of energy from food, it means your body has to get that from somewhere else. Next best thing? Your fat reserves.
Also, focus on what the positive things you have achieved. Not on the negative. You've already lost 10lb! That's awesome progress. Now you just need to lose 1 pound, 5 times more.0 -
Isn't the golden rule 2 pounds a week? Grant it u fluctuate between 3-5 pounds.0

Tea only helps to fill you up temporarily so you might eat less at your meal (thus still creating a caloric deficit). Other than that and hydrating you, it does nothing for weight loss.
As for the "golden 2lb p/week rule", that depends on how much you have to lose. You have so little to lose, you need to tone it down to just 0.5lb p/week, otherwise, you risk losing more muscle mass while losing fat.
Usually the 2lb p/week thing is for people with 100lb to lose. They still have a lot of fat, so their bodies will use that fat as a primary source of energy. The less fat you have, the less your body wants to let go of it, so it will start using more muscle instead.0 -
See I'm only 4'10" and it makes it hard because I feel that the shorter you are, it makes it harder for it to show that you lost. I mainly drink black tea but I have started drinking green tea. I love tea and it gets me to drink water. That is the main reason why I drink it. I normally fill my tumbler at work with cold water but I often forget about drinking it versus tea.0

I know the pain of being a shorty, I'm also only 5'2. But you know what? I'd rather lose more slowly, than look flabby/skinnyfat at my goal weight. Because that's what happens when you lose too fast, and too much muscle while losing fat.
I bet you're bf won't even notice you're 5lb heavier. If he does and comments on it, tell him you're working on it. I'm sure he will support you, because he cares about your health too.
Also, if tea keeps you hydrated there's no shame in that. I never drink just plain water. I always use some sort of flavouring. It still hydrates you just fine.0 -
He personally doesn't think I need to lose any but it's something that I want to do for myself. He is working on his weight overseas anyway so I figure it's something we can do together in a way and be supportive.0
