iOS pedometer and exercise logging

I run around 2.5 miles per day on a treadmill, and walk for most of it at work. My iOS gives me a calorie adjustment for my steps, but it's not nearly high enough to be even just my run, let alone my run and my day at work! Still I worry that some of my steps might be getting counted twice. Can anyone help? Thanks!
