Cooked vs. Dry Pasta

Good evening MFP!

When I got home from work my supper was already made for me so I weighed my pasta cooked. I'm wondering how I can get an accurate calorie count. The box says 85 grams for 310 calories. I'm assuming this is dry. So my question is, how much would I really have eaten when I measured 85g cooked pasta? If we can even figure that out. Thanks!

You could use the non-asterisked (MFP-entered) item for "Pasta - Fresh-refrigerated, plain, cooked" from the USDA National Nutrient Database as a rough estimate. I am pretty sure the refrigerated part just means that the USDA labs weighed the completely cooled pasta so that no more water weight could be lost through steam.

I entered a recipe for it so I could weigh it cooked. It was 12 oz dry and cooked it was about 29. About 2.5 times the weight

The cooked weight of 85g dry will vary depending on how long it is cooked for, which will affect how much water is absorbed.

However, my pack of Tesco pasta says that a 75g dry portion equates to around 170g cooked, so on this basis your 85g dry would be roughly 192g cooked.
