I started the new year with no idea where I'd end up. Since the 1st of the year I've dropped 28 pounds and been doing 2-2.5 miles on the treadmill daily. Just signed up to do my first 5k on my 35th birthday next month. Issue I'm having is my feet and calves kill me after a jog and trying to keep a steady pace is next to impossible. Any help is greatly appreciated

First congrats on the weight loss! and Happy 35th!

You should Start running outside some more. Not saying the treadmill is bad but nothing is going to get you more prepared than actually being outside.

Try looking into some compression socks or maybe different shoes. That could be the issue. Google some shoe store where you can go have someone evaluate your running and fit the proper show for you.

Remember your first 5K is for you so don't feel like you need to kill your self to finish towards the front. No matter what someone will cheer for you first or last. So if you gotta change your pace then do it.

I hope nothing but the best for you my friend and hope you keep us all posted on how the 5k goes next month.

Actually bought 3 different pair of new shoes, one pair for outside, one for inside and one extra pair. Weather just became nice enough here to start outside so been doing it more now. I actually made an appointment with a podiatrist to check to see if I need insoles or not. Thanks for the support and the input. I will have to check into the socks.
