toned abs exercise

Hi. I was suggested to do strength training along with cardio to get toned abs. I do cardio & never skip my crunches since Dec 2012 but my abs isnt toned yet. I do planks, v ups, backward crunch, etc. any other exercise suggestions?
P/s: I can't eat clean for the time being as I was prohibited by my parents since i'm in the process of recovering from anorexia.

If you are recovering for anorexia, I think the best thing for you to do would be to focus on just eating healthy, and strength training for the time being. I'm sure you are probably pretty weak, and still healing so try to eat a lot of protein veggies and even carbs. You don't need any fatburning cardio right now0

Crunches are worthless. At least do bicycle crunches.
But I'd suggest an ab roller. They're amazing and like, ten bucks.
To clarify :That's the wheel on a stick. Not the stupid thing that looks like a stretched out hanger.0
