Goal Weight Question

Hi! right now my current goal weight is 177 pounds. I would say I am medium framed and extremely curvy (34DD and 44 hips) but my waist is about a 32. I'm an hourglass figure and my legs and hips are very thick and muscular. I eat TDEE - 25% So I eat around 1900-2000 cals a day. I exercise 5 days a week. I do cardio and this week I started lifting on the machines and I also started C25K. I am 5'7.5" tall. Right now I weigh about 190 pounds and I fit into size 10 jeans, size small to medium shirts. People say I DO NOT look like I weigh that much. they say I look like I weigh 150-160 (YAY).
My question is this.. Does 177 pounds seem too high? I know I shouldn't obsess over the number on the scale, but I used to weigh 247 pounds and I haven't been this small since I was about 16 years old so I want to be a lower weight and hit the 70 pound mark from my highest weight ever. and plus I'd still be in the stupid overweight category for my bmi... Have a look through my pics and see what I mean by my body carrying my weight well.
If you have any fat loss tips besides what I'm doing that would be great also! Thanks!

Even without clicking on your profile picture I can tell that you have a solid, muscular build so 177 doesn't sound unreasonable. The great thing is, let's say you hit 177 and decide you want to lose a few more pounds, there's nothing stopping you from changing your goal weight at any time.0

Thank you. Yes I'm a pretty solid girl and I carry my weight well. Even at my highest my parents thought I was 200 pounds but I was reaching 250lbs!0

I weigh 190lbs in that picture!0 -
Well it depends if u are going to add muscle after losing weight then u should lose more because when u build muscle u will also gain fat so u will look a little bit bulky if u started from 170 ..try to be as lean as possible( 150 or less ) before adding muscle ,but if u are going maintain then i think165 or 170 will be fine0

I also think it's a reasonable goal. What you might want to do when you get there is get your body fat % measured and then use that as a more accurate guide to your health/fitness. I'm about an inch shorter than you and am also medium/large framed but I still have plenty of body fat to get rid of (slightly over 30%). Once I lose more of the weight and fat I'll consider how I look and feel and then change my goals from there. If you haven't already, take measurements on the rest of your body (neck, arms, legs) to help you keep track of how your shape is changing in those areas as well.0

If you like the way you look, it's a good weight. I'd guess when you reach 177 you'll revise goal weight and go for 160. One step at a time.0

Thanks for the feedback! I don't think my body will ever get lighter than 170 even and i'm okay with that. I just want to lose this arm fat and belly fat. I'm proud of my legs at least!! I will keep my goal at 177 and then re-evaluate and take a photo to post to get opinions (EEEK!)0

Hi Ashley!
I think I'm missing some key information here - how tall are you? I don't think individual's ideal weights matters so much about the shape of their bodies as much as their overall diameter = meaning height. I found this chart from a credible source, so you may want to check it out:
http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html
Keep in mind that the more you lose, you'll probably keep your shape, but it's going to look a little different...proportions may change.
It sounds like you have the exercising thing pretty well covered, but how are you with consuming foods?
I'm not one to extremely deprive myself from the things I love, and I'm not into the new fad of "clean eating" (but hey, I'm not knocking it either) - but I try to be mindful.
I feel I've been fairly successful since I lost 33 lbs in 3 months, so I'll tell ya what I've been doing:
Eat breakfast daily
Drink at least 10 glasses water every day
No snacking
Done eating @ meals when I 'feel' full
Walking a few miles per week
Cutting grass twice each week (during summer months)
Try to avoid junk food
Been taking OxyElite Pro
With the OxyElite Pro, I'm not going to recommend it to anyone (for liability reasons), but I think it's helping. It helps to maintain fullness and jump starts metabolisms (so they say). Whether or not it's working, I don't know; but I've lost some weight. :-)
Good luck to you! If you want, you can add me...or anyone can! I just joined MFP 2 days ago and I'm loving it!!!0 -

thank you! I will add you. I am 5'7.5" tall by the way. Very curvy and muscular legs and thighs *sigh* lol
I always snack BUT it's healthy snacks. I have an office job and I eat a banana or apple every hour to an hour and a half then have a small lunch and green tea. (I usually eat 3-4 pieces of fruit during an eight hour shift and a small lunch) I'll have a coffee with no sugar in the mornings with whole wheat toast or oatmeal. And supper I will try to get lots of protein with steak or chicken and brown rice or whatever else I am craving. I go to the gym after supper and now I am starting c25k, and lifting on the machines to get a whole body workout0 -
It's a good beginning goal and you can reassess after you get there I'm currently 10lbs below my goal weight, because my body kept losing even after I called goal and transitioned to maintenance. It's taken three months for my weight to stabilize, so even with a goal weight in mind your body might decide to do its own thing lol.0

Awesome!!! Hopefully I will drop another 10-15 once I hit goal0 -

I was getting a bit nervous because I'm only a few pounds from the lower end of a healthy bmi range for my age/height, but my weight has finally stabilized to the point where I am either staying the same or fluctuating .5lb in either direction. Now to just keep it there for the next 50 years or so lol.0 -
I dont really have any advice but i can completely relate. I am 5'5 and now i weigh 158. Girls my height are often going for 120-125 as a goal and i just dont think thats possible for me. People never believe me when i tell them what i weigh. My measurements are 36-28-38 & I wear a size 8. Girls with my measurements seem to weigh less than me. I totally think its our body type. Also i've never weighed under 225 as an adult so i had no idea what to set my goal to. I set it at 175 and have now gone down to 145. Each time i get closer i go down 10 more lbs. I dont think i will go down anymore from 145 though as the top part of me is getting quite thin. Anyways, i would say to get to your goal of 177 and reassess when you get there, thats what i've done. See if you are satisfied or if you would like to try a litlte bit more.0

bump- I have this problem. Granted I need to lose quite a bit of weight, but what they recommend for a person of my height is to be the weight I was in high school- pre hips and boobs:ohwell: I'd like to get some peoples opinions and viewpoints as to how they chose their goal weight!0
