Heavy lifting, calorie burning exercises

I've always been interested with heavy lifting, but I don't know where to start. I don't want to gain a lot of muscle, but instead I want to lose weight. I'm just lost with the whole thing. Any advice? Also what are the best exercises for burning calories?

Heavy lifting will not cause you to get bulky. You're a girl and do not have the testosterone to become bulky.

Don't confuse diet with exercise.
Diet is for weight loss, done right just fat loss, done wrong includes muscle mass.
Exercise is for heart health and body improvement, done right helps fat loss, done wrong can aid muscle loss. Side effect is usually weight gain.
Only thing exercise does for diet is it makes you burn more daily.
Therefore when you eat less, you still may be eating at a level you can adhere to and sustain.
So you could eat 1500 and no exercise and lose say 1 lb weekly because you burn 2000 daily.
Or you could eat 2000 and exercise and still lose 1 lb weekly because you burn 2500 daily.
Guess which one will transform your body more.
Lifting won't burn as many calories as cardio would, so you wouldn't get to eat as much, so that could be tougher.
But 1 lb is 1 lb loss, and making the muscle stronger while fat comes off is usually better.
Or else what will be revealed when the fat comes off?0 -

Thank you for posting this. I keep reading women's comments on here that make me interested in this as well. I do lift some weights but, I'd like to lift more and am just unsure where to start since I am not very strong. Thank you to those who've offered advice.0
