Tastes have changed...

I’ve been 90% paleo (from vegan/vegetarian) for over 4 years now and my tastes have most definitely changed.
I no longer crave:
• Rice or pasta.
• Baked potatoes with cheese (or potatoes in any form- though to be fair I never much liked them)
• Bread- in any form.
I prefer to have an extra serving of vegetables with my meals instead. There is nothing wrong with those foods – since giving them up, if I try a bite, I find that they just don’t do it for me anymore.
Like most paleo folk, the thing I do miss is a ‘carby crunch’ which I don’t have a good replacement for. For my ‘crunch’ I rely on rice cakes and fine-ground oat-cakes- but I try to avoid Doritos as I’ll want to eat the entire family-sized bag…

Also- when I do have a dairy craving – that has changed too:
• Cow’s milk- I found that I love almond milk and Koko milk better.
• Real dairy cream- prefer the tang of full-fat Greek yoghurt now
• Cheddar cheese- prefer Feta (or sometimes cottage cheese with chives) by far now- so salty and sharp.

Every now and again I’ll have some full-fat hummus or mixed salad beans with grated carrot and veg in a lettuce wrap for a change. My idea of a treat now is a rich meat pie, where it used to be a greasy pizza (which I still love, but not like I used to)

I’ve found that now, I genuinely get far more enjoyment from a bowl of strawberries and Greek yogurt than a slice of cake (obviously I had to ‘force myself’ to eat cake for the sake of the experiment-lol!  ) I still love chocolate-I don’t think that will ever change. Chocolate mouse is my kryptonite.

Have your tastes changed since joining MFP? What do you no longer crave and what do you find yourself reaching for – that you never thought you would?

Wine was the first thing I eliminated. Now most of it doesn't appeal to me. Once in a while I like a good red blend. Anything fried makes me feel ill, even the smell of it...yuck.

Ditto! I no longer crave grains of any kind. The thought of cereal, rice, pasta, cakes and anything fried no longer appeals to me. Like the poster above the smell of a lot of these foods make me sick. A little while ago I tried a french fry and all I could taste was salt, oil, grease and chemicals. It was digusting! I just want more meat and veggies... :)
