change in my nutrition game?

I've been thinking of changing up my nutrition. I am celiac so a lot of the bread carbs I can't have, and a lot of gluten free bread is just full of chemical crap.
I stick to a low-carb esque diet, but I see people eating brown rice with chicken and veggies and they are losing weight a lot more rapidly than I am.
I know I have a problem hitting my calorie goal and I go to the gym 5 days a week.
I suppose my main question is:
I keep hearing about counting macros. Does anyone have a good article on how to go about doing this? I know there's a ton of them out there, but I'd love to hear from people currently counting macros or something close that they think works better than just low carb.
Thanks in advance people!!
