I follow the jog/walk method but I've finished 2 half marathons! Best wishes to you! You can do it! :flowerforyou:

i did the disney half marathon (my first) this past january and had the most amazing feeling of accomplishment when i finished in just under 3 1/2 hrs after taking 1 pee stop and 1 stop for a picture in front of the castle....my goal was to do 15 min miles and pretty much with my 2 stops factored in, it worked out very close to that...i haven't done any races since (well a small 5k organized by my friends development) but do still try to do interval running/walking at least once a week in addition to all the other stuff that i'm doing for exercise...

i wish you the best of luck and only recommend if you do nothing else, GET THE BEST KIND OF SNEAKERS YOU CAN, before you really really start training....you will never believe the world of difference it makes when you have the proper footwear....

    have fun..

Me-me-me!! I am currently in taper mode -- I run a half on 6/19 -- my first really big race.

I ran my first half marathon last October in 2:25 (okay for me considering it was VERY hilly, but I finished 48th out of 54 people....), hoping to run this one in 2:10. I've been doing a lot more hill training to get ready. I'm on the fence about attempting my first marathon this fall.

Three kids, running is my ME-time, I'm addicted!

Good luck in October, and remember, listen to your body, it knows what's up!!

I signed up for my first half marathon on Dec 5. I have only ran 1 5K and started cycling again. I feel the cycling is during the hot Texas months while still getting in my cardio and doing treadmill work. I'm not on any plan as of yet.

Did my first half marathon about a month ago (see profile pic). The last 3-4k were difficult but you mentally push through and the feeling of that finish line was fantastic. It's addictive though, as soon as I finished I remember telling myself - I know I can do it faster. So, next year my goal is to do it faster.

    Good luck!

I agree as soon as I finish a half marathon I set my time for the next one. I have done 2 half marathons and have taken 15 minutes off of each time. This year in October I hope to finish in 3 hours. I walk/run but it feels great. I will start my training on July 10th with a group of others from our YMCA ( they sponser the run) Pacing with them really helps me cut my time down. Good Luck everyone on your runs!
