My name is Eran. I am 25 years old. And I am a mom of a very active 3 year old boy. Before I found out I was pregnant 3 years ago. I lost 40 pounds. After finding out I was pregnant I gained the 40 back......plus about 45 pounds. The last three years, I've been playing this yoyo game that I've been playing all if my life. I've also spent about 3000 dollars in gyms, and trainers. Nothing seems to work. I'm having a hard time at home with ut. I seem to be the only one trying to eat healthy. It doesn't help that I live with a total of 8 people. And everyone seems to jump on the wagon with me and a week later....their eating junk. And I'm just staring at them drooling. I know this is a whole mental thing. And the last week I have been using MFP and watching what I eat. Low carb. Hopefully this time is the last time

You're the mom, so you cook the meals. If you don't now, start helping or doing the shopping as well. Make it a lifestyle change that the whole family is on board with.0

Is low carb a medical thing? I've yo-yo'd too. No more. I vow to make permanent changes - lifestyle changes only.
For me to keep the weight off, I need to let go of the idea that weight loss is this temporary "project." Weight loss and keeping it off are part of the same goal. I need to get healthy for me. I still snack, but it has to be controlled snacking forever. I need to move more, forever.0 -
You have to just remember while "drooling " over what they are eating , it'd only make up happy in the short term , small changes will all add up.i find the first week the worst but once your in the swing of it you won't even crave the junk as much. You can do it if you put your mind to it0

The only way that I have finally found what works for me, is incorporating ALL KINDS of food into my daily meals, making them fit into my daily calories. NO MORE YOYO'ing!! That way there's no need to drool over any kind of food, because it's part of your eating, so it's not going to be a temptation anymore. My BF could be eating chips and drinking beer right next to me, but since I eat/drink that too in moderation, I don't care if he does and I can't (because it won't fit into my calories for that day), there's no drooling. LOL!! I'll enjoy that some other day by pre-logging it into my diary, simple as that. :flowerforyou:0

This.
My diary is open. If you look at what I eat, there are a lot of foods (formerly known as) "junk". (I am changing that idea from being here: no food is junk, it just has a macro profile that is harder to fit into my goals.) But instead of having 3 donuts yesterday at the office, I had 1 and decided that I could live with a higher calorie day. MFP (and the If It Fits Your Macros concept that goes hand-in-hand with MFP's information output) has shown me that it really IS all about portion control and focusing on nutrition (the macros) rather than cutting out "junk" food completely. Now do NOT take my diary as "nutritionally sound" advice...it is not. I do NOT meet my chosen macros and sometimes don't meet the minimum recommended. BUT I am working on it, and the basic CICO (cals in vs cals out) premise IS there and it IS working.
As for the gym thing: after reading the forums on here for a few months, I have come to realize that the "food" part and the "fitness" part are...hmmm...only loosely related. It helps you much more over time to learn about and deal with your nutrition. Going to the gym or other exercise is great for many things, but focusing your weightloss efforts on the CO part of the equation will not get you as far as focusing on the CI part.
As for being around other people, well, the world is a tempting place. That is a personal hurdle you have to overcome and make the decision to get goal-focused. Nobody else's eating ultimately affects your body. You have to do for you and hold yourself to it no matter what is going on around you. I wish my boss would stop bringing in donuts, but the rest of the office doesn't. It is on me to take my breakfast or have a donut or have 3 donuts. Every item I eat is a choice, and sometimes I have to make the hard choice. When I make the fun or easy choice, nobody pays for those cals but me and my goals.
Good luck, and think about how you think. Sustainable weightloss can be done!

Yup, we had Wendy's the other night - something that, traditionally, just doesn't fit into a 'diet.' But I knew we were having that for dinner, so I slotted it into my daily intake right away, and then adjusted the rest of the day to make the Wendy's cheeseburger and fries 'fit.' So there's literally nothing I can't eat if I allow for it in the balance of the day.

As long as you see diet and exercise as having a "finish line," you will eventually have to start again.
Don't adopt a low carb diet unless this is how you'd happily eat for the rest of your life. Weight loss needs to seamlessly transition into maintenance, or you will inevitably pack the weight right back on as soon as your diet is over.
Eat NOW the way you want to eat FOREVER, with portions and nutritional balance that meets your health and caloric needs. Chose a MODERATE rate of loss in the calculator (for the love of Mike, I wish they would not even offer the 2 pounds a week to anyone but the most heavy MFPers) and start living NOW the way you want to keep living.
PS: I see you, your partner, and a child in your story. Where are these 5 extra people coming from?
