how much loss to be noticeable?

Back story - I started 2 weeks ago at 275 lbs. So far I've lost 7 lbs.
I have a lot of clothes that are the size down/tight from where I've gained. Trying them on makes me feel rubbish about myself. I would like to be able to set myself a goal (for instance, lose 25 lbs) to try them on again and hopefully, all being well, they will fit better.

I have no idea what timescale to set but I don't want to try them on too soon because I know it will discourage me.

When does it start to show?

It's hard to say because each person is different.
I had to lose 10-15 lbs before I started noticing any changes with me.

It really depends on how you carry your weight and how much you have to lose. At over 200lbs it could take a good 20-40 lbs to be noticeable...someone that has 10lbs to lose you would most likely notice a 5lb loss very quickly.

There is no way to tell. Everyone is different and loses from different places first. My upper body loses fat before my lower body so I can drop weight and my pant size won't change. You can also change your body (losing fat and gaining muscle) and the scale won't change but your inches will go down. I'd suggest tracking your measurements and when you lose a few inches try them on. Don't let it get you down if they don't fit perfectly, you'll know you've been making progress.

    Echo...
    Every one is different.

About 15# I had to start wearing different pants.

A really odd thing happened at 30# - my face started thinning. Between 30# and 35# I had the largest number of people take notice because of the sudden, and surprisingly dramatic, difference in the shape of my face.

I have lost a bit over 20 pounds and it's not terribly noticeable. But at 5'4" and starting at 207,that's not a big surprise. However, my hubby says he can tell.

Why not give yourself a date once a month to try them on? I did the house payment date but recently changed it to the date that my YMCA draft comes out of my account. I do pictures during this time too.

It's different for everyone, at almost 90 lbs down no one seems to notice me still.

I had lost in the 30+ pound range before anyone noticed, or noticed enough that I was losing to say something. I started in the 230's and set small goals along the way to keep me motivated (in my profile if want to see), it did and does help to set attainable goals.

Weight lost is just one goal, you could start with goals like, drinking more water, less fast food, walking 10 minutes, then 15, then 20 etc. Small changes add up, as for when I noticed a change it probably was well into 20 pounds lost. I will add I added strength training in February and while I have only lost about 8 pounds since then I have actually dropped 2 pant sizes (depending on the brand) so the scale is not always the only measure of success.

Be sure to take full body measurements, arms, thighs, neck, bust, waist, hips, etc. I took measurements about 2 months in and going from memory I have lost about 28 inches all around, and I am sure it is a bit more from my initial weight drop since I did not measure at the start. To me one of the most surprising was 1.5 inches off my neck, that is a lot, in before pics my neck looked so much bigger, I never noticed this until I measured, also a necklace that never leaves my body hangs lower, I can actually see the pendant when I look down - one of those silly NSV's. I have also dropped a 1/2 size in shoes, odd right, but no one will ever notice that, but you will.

Get up and make everyday count, time is passing if you do something or not!

It was around 30 pounds where people I see all the time started to notice. Well into the 40's before people I see occasionally started to notice. Now at almost 60, I am starting to get asked regularly.
