What MFP has helped me learn;

1- To stop eating! I am big on seconds at dinner. Now that I log in everything that I eat, I now stop at 1200 calories. Surprisingly though, sometimes, I am allowed seconds.

2- A 1/2 cup and 4 oz. is actually a lot! I have NEVER measured or weighed my food. Now I have 3 sets of measuring cups and spoons! I also bought a kitchen scale. I can't say enough about learning proportions!!! Wow!

3- Eating well is just a tweak away. I am learning that I can eat pretty much what I want but, must watch serving size. Veggies are low in calories.... rice and pasta not so much. DUH! Just making smart choices now.
I still have to work on;

1- Drinking more water. I hate water...the end!

2- Spreading calories around. I have noticed that I don't eat much at breakfast or lunch so, I have a lot of calories left for dinner. Sometimes it is hard to eat all my calories at the end of my day.

3- exercising.... please see water.

So, my succes is not only losing 8 pounds in 3 weeks!!!(YAY!) My successes are learning how to live better and knowing what I have to work on! Good luck everyone! Be proud of your accomplishments even if your first accomplishment was joining this site! I am proud of you! :flowerforyou:

    Love the post... and yes.... YEAAAAA for you (and all of us)

    Learning how many calories and how much fat is in my former favourite foods... immediately changed life
    I still crave pizza, I still pizza... I just don't eat the WHOLE THING anymore lol

    I am 2 lbs away from 15 lbs on MFP... but 30 lbs for the year... I am sooo looking forward to seeing it GONE!!!

    And for those who don't think that losing one or two is an accomplishment... yes it is... life long health is not a quick fix
    and that's what we learn here. I am proud of very pound I lose... bc i know it's NEVER coming back!!!

    It is so great that you are learning how to be healthy about your eating habits in addition to losing weight! I agree that MFP has really helped me learn about portion size.

    I also saw that you have a mani/pedi as a reward and I think that is a great idea and i'm going to adopt it! I've been trying to think of good rewards for myself to help me stay motivated about my weight loss =)

    Exactly!

    When I first started measuring out portions I was amazed at how much 1/2 cup was for vegetables (except mashed potatoes -- grrr) :) . It is a lot of food!

    I have 3 sets of measuring spoons, 1 set of measuring cups and a couple of wet/dry measuring cups. I am always scrambling to try to find one that is clean!
