So are you planning on drinking like 5 of them? Because 100 calories for dinner is just sad.0

Protein shakes do not replace a full meal. They are fine to help you meet your daily protein requirements, but they are not very nutrient rich outside of the protein they contain. To me, a meal should contain a variety of macro and micro nutrients and provide satiation. Protein shakes don't really do that.0

I think a shake has to meet certain nutrient requirements to be called a "meal replacement" shake. Plain ole whey protein shakes are just supplements and can't really be called meals unless you add them to other things to bulk them up. Which of course, would raise up your calories. 117 calories as a meal sucks.0

I tend to have a protein shake for breakfast as I eat on the go.
I feel aslong as its coupled with both carbs & fat it can make for a meal.
Like this morning I had a chocolate protein shake with my oats mixed with a TBS of peanut butter.0 -

Then you are likely eating more than you think, or are going so far over on you "cheat" days that it undoes your deficit.0 -
ya my cheat days i have been known to go way overboard. no doubt about that. but i weigh myself before i eat a big meal and last 3 weeks progress has been awful/lackluster0

Not that i'm all for replacing a meal with a shake... but if you're going to do a shake at least get a whey concentrate or even a casein if you can tolerate the texture.. Your body will absorb an ISO almost immediately. You won't feel full very long. That or add something to it like fruit or spinach.0

Or you are logging inaccurately. Or any OTHER thing that causes weight fluctuations. I'm up a bit lately but like hell 2150 calories is above my maintenance when I lost on 2200. Fluctuations.0 -

This is what you should do have breakfast then a whey isolate proteine shake one scoop 30 minutes before you workout and after your workout do 2 scoops the a snack, lunch, snack and then dinner my isolate shakes are 30 g per scoop 130 calories you need to eat 5 times a day to loose wight and gain muscle

This!
I was having a frustrating stall recently and figuring out my weekly deficit made me realize I was eating close to maintenance. This was very helpful. I thought I had been over a day here or there, but if you go enough over on enough days it can easily erase your deficit. I also had to accept the fact that I'd been slacking on weighing EVERYTHING!
And also, remember you are smaller than when you started (yay!) so you do have to adjust as you go. Good luck.0 -
nice to see that hollowmind's advise is at least consistent with his username!
OP, concentrate on your daily and weekly targets. Have a shake if you need more protein that day, but replacing a meal with one is a sure fire way to make yourself miserable and sacrifice longer-term compliance.0 -
I have protein shakes for breakfast all the time because I can't do solid foods before about 10:30. That works fine for me but I don't know that I'd want to replace dinner with one.0
