how do I put in exercise so I can see how many calories I can get back.

welcome to MFP.
There is an exercise option at the light blue banner above. You can find some exercises there. You need to input the time you have spent at that exercise (machine).
If you do not know how many calories you have burned, I suggest you buy a device to measure.
I use a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) with a sensor around the chest and the reader in my wrist.
I use the HRM every time I have physical activity (i.e. shoveling for 1 hour, I burned 330 calories)

Remember, MFP overestimates calories burned, so most only eat back a portion.0
