Hi,
I am recently new to MyFitnessPal.
My main goal is to reduce bodyfat so I am looking for friends with similar goals who have any advice or tips, or just to motivate each other. As a girl I know it is much more difficult to reduce bodyfat than for men but my goal is to get down to 15% (and then further once I have reached that). I am currently 26% bodyfat, down from 30% in the past fortnight and train about 4 times a week doing cardio and weights and I eat a pretty clean diet. My macros is currently 40% carbs, 35% protein and 25% fat but I struggle to get this exactly right! If anyone has any pointers in the right direction it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks, stay fit

Why so low? 18.6 to 24.9 is considered normal for women

Welome to MFP. You will reduce body fat by being in a caloric deficit. What lifting program are you doing?
  • At age 50 I'm in the same situation -- looking to lose body fat without losing muscle, so trying to find the right plan to do so. Currently eating at a 500-1K calorie deficit, doing 45 minutes cardio for six days a week by hiking hills (generally split between vigorous and moderate) and lifting heavy 2x a week.

While it would be nice to drop 20 lbs on the scale, I'm much more interested in getting to 20% BFP. I'm not sure where I am at the moment -- my scale says 30%, but scales are notoriously unreliable, so I'm being tested in a BodPod tomorrow to get both an accurate BFP and an accurate metabolic rate. (Since I lost 120 pounds a few years ago, I'm concerned that my metabolic rate might be below the norm.) I'm a little nervous!
  • @rochsteady‌ ‌I want to be shredded
  • @Liftng4Lis‌ Hi there! Thanks, I am in a caloric deficit at the min, dropped my calories by around 400 and have also significantly reduced my carb intake. I have no specific lifting program as I tend to focus more on cardio, although I don't neglect weight training completely. If you have any suggestions of what I should be doing Id be grateful

Outstanding! I'm doing a similar program although looking at strength training to benefit endurance racing. I find the videos from the IFBB crowd to be much more detailed in their explanation on the dynamics of lifting. Good journey!

Hi 15% for a female is low!
For me loosing bf is all about carb intake. Have you looked at IF and carb back loading? Both work extremely well.
Alternatively the no carb approach works well too. With one or two re feed days thrown in.

I'm similar to you! Although I don't want to go lower than 17-18% BF as for me I think that'll be healthier :)
