Chronic insomniac here. Average 3-6hrs per night depending how i go. Exercise 6 days per week at high intensity for an hour, sometimes more.

I decided a long time ago the insomniac monster inside me will not stop me achieving my exercise goals and enjoyment in physical challenges

I love my sleep. And could and have had a power nap at work.
I've lost a stone and trying to incorporate energy foods into my diet. Getting the balance right is difficult when on a low GI diet.
I exercise every other day but found yesterday I just was so tired I came home and was asleep by 8pm.
I was cold all day at work as well. So going to take some vitamins today.
I'm usually more awake when it gets warmer and brighter and it still feels like winter.

I usually get between 4-6 hours of sleep a night (usually getting up at least once). I'm a horrible sleeper and always have been.

Same here. I've been getting even worse lately, some says just two or three hours. It feels like I wake up like twenty times too.

Amazingly, I function reasonably well. Maybe a little forgetful and grumpy arty times, but never feeling tired.

I posted this in another thread regarding sleep and weight loss, maybe it's not as easy (for some - I did just fine) but it certainly is possible to lose a good amount of weight and sleep poorly as well, despite how done say it can't be done.

Another chronic insomniac here! I excersise 6 days a week at 4 am. Generally asleep between 8 and 9, so average about 7 hrs which is fine as long as that 7 hrs is quality sleep which unfortunatley isnt often.

Well it certainly varies from person to person, judging by some of the replies I think I'm sleeping a good amount!

7-9 hours during the week and 9 hours or more at the weekend. Getting up for work is a struggle every day and I could pretty much sleep through the entire weekend if I didn't have things to do.

Agreed - I have chronic insomnia and a night of more than 5 hours is a rare thing for me, most are in the 3-4 hour frame, and i'm down 100+ so clearly it IS possible!

around 4-5 typically. I'm not usually tired and I'd rather do something other than sleep.

I was a chronic insomniac for years, only getting 3 to 4 hours of sleep. At times, even up all night, then working 8-9 hours a day. It was pretty bad. Stress, diet, and weight gain were the causes. I had to take a combination of two sleeping pills to get any sleep at all but I was always exhausted. My mind would never shut down - it was constantly racing.

Then about four years ago a couple of changes happened. I was able to retire so that totally relieved the stress. Slept better but not great, 5 to 6 hours. Finally, I decided to do something about my weight about a year and a half ago.

I've lost 44lbs. (close to maintenance now) and exercising 4xs per week. I also weaned myself off the sleeping pills and go to sleep at a certain time each night, no exceptions. I'm now sleeping regularly 7 1/2 to 8 hours a night. It's a miracle.

Reliving the stress was the first step in my long journey back to normal sleeping and back to health.
