Our newest family member is Philipino. We always play a family game on Easter. This year we are doing a WHITE RABBIT aka white elephant and I would like to do a basket of sauces, seanonings any thing else considered essential. Any ideas appreciate. I want to make him feel welcome. thanks!

Do you have access to a Filipino grocery?

There aren't really any Filipino-specific sauces, it's just how we cook with them ;) Staple sauces that do come to mind right away include soy sauce, fish sauce, and shrimp paste!

I believe there is one near by. I was recommended there by an Asian grocery I checked out this week end

I agree with the poster up there as well ^^ but maybe another line of thought is to do some treats? Dried mangos, snacks, candies. Chances are that he'll have ingredients if he does any cooking?

Halo halo is a good Filipino treat. We usually make it ourselves, but you can buy it all put together at some Asian grocery stores.

It's probably personal preference, but maybe something like pastillas de leche (milk candy) or Nagaraya (salty snacks). Or chicharon (pork rinds). If you have access to an Asian or Filipino grocery store, they'll be able to help you out :)

I'm a Filipino but can't think of any good dessert besides halo halo or leche flan!
For something savory, adobo or pinakbet is yummyyyyyyy! Pinakbet uses shrimp paste while adobo is vinegar and soy sauce. You can search up recipes online.
