I missed the golden age of the studios, but have seen a couple of Esther Williams' movies. Watching this clip of this truly beautiful woman makes me want to take up swimming.

    I love old movies and old movie musicals, she was very lucky in her career, any other time period and no one would appreciate synchronized swimming in a movie, well as the basis of a movie anyhow. I am sure not many people on here know who she is though.

    My mother swims beautifully because of Esther Williams. She was a teenager in the '50s, and modeled her swimming on Williams'.

    Williams now has a company that makes awesome vintage-style swimsuits. I'm going to get myself one as a reward when I reach goal weight. http://www.esther-williams.com/page/page/8640130.htm

    Absolutely gorgeous - thanks for posting.

    How the heck did she keep from getting water up her nose? She wasn't wearing a nose clip and I never saw bubbles coming out of her nose. Hmmm...

    I was watching the clip I posted and although I know they had to have filmed the scene in stages, there were still significant amounts of time where she was not only under water, she was moving around, smiling, and making it look effortless. And not blowing bubbles out of her nose.
