I have a question for the dietitians and general folks in the know. Given my calorie allowance of about 1700cals I find that most days i have quite a bit left by the end of the day (at least 200-300 not including the "bonuses" i get for working out). I know eating late can be a death sentence but under-eating isnt good either so my question is just how bad is late evening eating (1hr or so before bed) and should i just do a better job of calculating and managing my calorie intake through out the day or is coming up short ok? (MFP says its not) Thanks in advance!

Late night eating isn't bad at all in the body composition, and calorie balance departments. The only way it can really be considered "bad" for you is if it gives you heart burn or upset stomach or anything, otherwise, it doesn't matter at all when you eat your 1700 calories for the day, just stick to the 1700 and you're good to go.

    +1

I would just be concerned about eating something too "heavy" that makes you feel sick right before you go to bed or seems to give you crazy dreams. You may want to add some calories to your previous meals and maybe have a light after dinner snack like yogurt, popcorn, or fruit if you are worried about eating too late.

I eat up until I go to sleep. Just finished a piece of toast, in bed-actually. It's fine.

If you don't have a medical reason to not eat so late, it's fine. Meal timing is irrelevant to weight loss.
