Well, I'm one of those people who used to eat a big meal whether I was hungry or not and wouldn't stop until all food (and everyone else's leftovers) were eaten.

I am trying to be better. I am trying to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day whilst only eating when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm full.

This is proving trickier for me than I'd of imagined.

It's not tricky because I cant stick to the rules I have set myself. I am, in fact, doing very well. My problem is that because I cook for my family I am either cooking and washing up constantly because I don't want to eat when they're eating but get hungry right after I've finished clearing their meal OR I cook for everyone at once then have to put mine to one side and reheat when I'm hungry.

How do other people plan their days around cooking for everyone? I do usually cook separate meals for me and the family, not because I have to but because we do all have different tastes and they eat food that I would struggle to fit into my allowance PLEASE NOTE: I don't have a problem with that. :) They would eat what I eat if I made them!

Why are you making yourself eat so many times?

As for the family thing, is everyone old enough to fend for themselves (at least a couple of times per day)? Can your SO pitch in?

I'm not making myself eat. I like eating :) I eat 3 meals a day and have a snack mid morning, mid afternoon and in the evening if I fancy it.

My daughter is 10 and my husband works very long hours so I cook for them both when she gets home from school and he gets home from work. It may sound old fashioned but that's how we do it.

The reason I posted is because today I wasn't hungry until about 2.30 when I had my lunch. Within minutes of washing that up I started preparing their meal. I cooked my dinner at the same time but I'm not ready to eat again at 5pm as I still feel full from lunch. I have to go out to boxing at 7 so I'll have to eat soon to fuel that class so I am going to be cooking, cleaning up, eating and cleaning up all evening. There has to be a better way but it's beyond me. Please realise that I'm not actually 'complaining' as such. I have a great life, but I am so sick of washing up! lol

I cook more at a time so I can make my own "TV dinners" so to speak. It's great for when my husband gets home late or I want to just grab something to take to work for lunch. Good luck, hopefully it get easier for you.

prep and cook things in advance.. for instance... I or my wife will cook up a dozen boneless skinless chicken breasts on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon then cover them and put them in the fridge for quick easy meals throughout the week. same with things like stew... we will make a big slow cooker meal and put the leftovers in single serve microwaveable bowls... other things like boiled eggs... steamed rice... potatoes... etc.. can all be cooked in larger quantities and stored for quick meals... good luck!!!

Is there a way you, your husband, and your daughter can all eat dinner together? That way you're only making dinner once. If someone is ravenous when they get home and dinner is still an hour or two away, have some healthy snacks available. You can make meals that are primarily what *you* want to eat, but then throw in a side they like that may not necessarily fit your allowance.

Thanks, I do cook chicken breasts 4 at a time. I usually have roast veg so I can just throw it in a roasting pan while I am cooking for everyone else.

I don't mind the cooking so much as I do cook mine at the same time as theirs and reheat when I'm hungry but I just cant seem to time my meals so that we are all hungry and therefore eating at the same time. We seem to have 2 or 3 different meal times between the 3 of us so I'm constantly dishing up and washing up.

    Bloody family!! ;)
