Always hungry

I'm trying to start MFP up again after gaining back the weight I had lost a year and a half ago. I used to be very active and be able to eat much more because of it. Now I am not active whatsoever and trying to stick to 1200 calories is near impossible cause I feel like I'm always hungry. I'm trying to get my motivation back to be active, but between not a lot of room at my house, no money for a membership and the crappy weather the last few months, it's going to take a bit for that to happen...so in the mean time, what's the best way to stick to 1200 calories and feeling content?

Hi tolson, the trick is to find foods that are low in calories but are still filling like grains, eggs, beans, etc. Also, drinking plenty of water will help as well. I find that if I eat a big breakfast then I'm not as hungry throughout the day. Maybe 1200 calories is too low? Is that the number MFP gave to you? I see a personal trainer and he suggested I eat 200-300 more calories than MFP gave me. He also suggested that my meals go from big, medium to small meaning a big breakfast, medium lunch and a small dinner with some snacks in between. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have heard of the big to small meal line up...maybe that's part of my problem, I think I tend to go the opposite. MFP did give me the count of 1200, and without doing any exercise I've never seem to stay within that limit :-/ I have been trying to do a little better of what I eat which I think is helping, but I don't seem to have the discipline I once had with portion control.
