taking a week off exercise before starting a program?

K so I'm a little PO'd at my family. They're having one last get together next week before my mom moves out of state and of course they tell me today which is less than a week in advance...ugh....anyways I'm pretty much destined to eat crappy food and I'm going to be so hungry next week but worst of all, I can't exercise. I won't have any alone time to do it but I ordered Focus T25 and I'm not sure if I should start it the week after my family visit since it would've been a week break.

I’m a little confused about the “destined to eat crappy food” and “I can’t exercise” but I don’t see someone aiming a gun at your head. Sounds like a great time to let your better practices rub off on them. Recommend some active things (hiking, playing frizbee, etc.) and offer to help shop and cook healthier foods for everyone.0

My family is definitely not where I learned my healthy habits. My mom will only eat fast food, literally, and the rest of them are so freaking picky it's not funny. Usually food is pop tarts, cinnamon rolls, frozen pizza, hotdogs or pizza rolls or fast food. I could cook it but they sure as hell wouldn't eat it. And hiking is a good idea if I can find a place to do it. Frisbee is not possible because I have to watch over my two year old. Plus my family is very overweight and can't really move a lot so walking is difficult for them. I'm not exaggerating when I say my motivation for my lifestyle came from watching the people around me die early.0

How about walking for 30 minutes a day and try to eat moderately for the next week. Then get back to logging when you get home.0

Do you have to eat with them? Are they all staying at your house? I'm confused as to why their preference for an overall unhealthy diet means that you have to follow the same for the week.0

Yeah that's what I'll probably do. I'll just have to kick it into high gear when I get back. And jemhh, it's not as simple as just eating my own meals. I don't know how your family is by with mine that is a very bad idea. It'd be nonstop ridicule and accusations of me thinking I'm better than everyone and how I've got my nose in the air and how I might as well not come back, etc.0

Maybe just stick with lesser portions and take a walk with your two year old. I do take weeks off for vacations and I actually just enjoy it and do not worry to much about exercise or what I eat. Just get right back to it when you get home.0
