Do you retain water in the same places as you store fat?

Just curious... I've plateaued a bit, after losing quite fast, I've been stuck at the same weight for a couple of weeks. I'm cool with it, I'm getting closer to goal weight. However, but jeans are falling down, whereas a fortnight ago they were snug! Plus, my socks are leaving welts in my legs when I take them off. Maybe I've lost fat from my hips, and it's all water weight in my ankles!! (Wishful thinking!)

I get totally fat ankles, feet and fingers from water weight, but gain real fat in my butt, hips and stomach so that I can be a lot fatter than I am now, but still have small hands and feet until I get puffy.0

Swollen ankles and feet is caused by blood pooling down there, not so much by water weight.0
