How to make food more tasty.

I wondered if anyone has noticed that the taste of food seems to improve when in a state of hunger ? During this diet I do watch my calorie intake very carefully and if I worry I will go over I will abstain from eating. However when I do have something to eat, the food seems to have taken on a new dimension to it.

I don't even like white bread but it tastes delectable if it is the only thing available. I think this is why they say never food shop on an empty stomach. Everything looks, smells and tastes better when you're hungry. I absolutely can not go into a convenience store when I am hungry because I will come out with chips and eat them all before I get to my final destination.

Oh I never thought about that before. They do say do not shop when hungry and I suppose the same could be said about going in to a restaurant. You can easily order too much.

    Stop and taste it

The issue with being over hungry is the tendency to wolf it down

I think sugars, fat and salt affect our taste buds. As you eliminate or limit your intake of foods containing those you most likely find healthier food taste better.

Eat smaller portions and healthy snacks more often, so you don't run into this issue :)

When I limited our salt intake other flavours came forward and I swear I taste the food better these days. It helps that I don't wolf it down, either.

Garlic, onion, and spices for the meats.

    Vinaigrette for the vegetables.

Fruits all by themselves for their lovely fruitiness. Oh, OK. Maybe with a bit of creamy full-fat yogurt and some coconut.

    I'm getting hungry.
