We skipped the Courtin' and Sparkin'

I have a friend in another state who has been trying to fix me up with her friend Sara (Not her real name and both from China. My friend, Julie (Not here real name either) and I were talking about my ailing knee. Julie was telling me one of her co-workers had a knee operation and was off 6 weeks.

I said no way could I afford that! Julie said "well, she has a backup, her husband. You know Julie would make a great backup." Then we talked a little about Julie's sore back and moved on.

After the conversation was over I went over to my co-worker, Janie and said Julie thinks Sara would make a good backup. Then added hey, we skipped the courtin' and sparkin'. Janie laughs and says, no introduction either.

Then I think out loud, wow, closest I've ever been to an arranged marriage!

When I arrived at work this morning my co-worker asks if I'm married now. I say no, but it was close.
