Glycemic Index

I imagine I am not the only one struggling with weight as it relates to specific dietary needs and wondering if there is a "fix" for integrating nutritional needs within Fitness Pal for calculating things like glycemic index (to name one aspect) ?

My husband has just been diagnosed with Diabetes and I have dealt (not very successfully) with Hashimoto's disease for the past 10 years and am ready to take this on at a different level.

Are there guidelines beyond the carb/fat/protein calculations that more accurately define what nutritional goals should be for us?

I am thrilled to have this incredibly valuable tool along with my "UP" band, but have to believe there is a way to customize these tools specific to our needs. Anybody?

Perhaps set carbs and sugars a little lower to increase fats and protein. Play around with your settings. You could also track fiber -- helps you calculate veggies and fruit and nuts.
My settings are 45% carbs/ 25%Protein/ 30%Fat because I mostly eat vegetarian and beans have lots of carbs. Otherwise, a part of me wants to go high fat/ low carb.
