How to stop binge eating...

My biggest flaw may be my binge eating. Any advice to curb the cravings? I try to grab a seltzer (weening myself off of soda) or make a cup of tea instead of snacking but it's super hard for me not to constantly be munching on something.

Is there a time of day that you binge? Mine is nighttime; The Never Ending Dinner. :D

I had to learn some new routines. I'm getting better, but still struggle. Some days are easier than others.

I stopped binging by getting rid of my demonized view of food and just eating all foods I love (nothing omitted from my diet) within my caloric needs

    YMMV

Why do you binge? I mostly binge out of stress/boredom/emotions. I'm managing to get it under control this week after doing it for the last few months. What I'm doing is making sure I eat enough in the day and plan meals so I'm not tempted to get fast food and other junk later or start snacking mindlessly, sleep enough, drink enough water, sit with the emotions or do something else like watch a movie and try to make myself feel better another way. I don't "ban" anything or make it "bad." But if I feel like eating out of emotion I reflect first on how doing it will make me feel afterward and how it really won't help my goal, but hinder me.

I read someone else on here say that binging is like a comforting blanket (or something like that) and for me it is too, so in a way it's like I miss it or something is missing. But that will change. Have to try to rewire your thinking/habits. And set yourself up for success.

Oh and for me, personally, I find what also helps is, say how when I do binge, I like to eat stuff like chips, candy, pizza and ice cream... So I've been eating things like Special K chips and fat free pudding, or a small chocolate snack size bar, so I don't feel "deprived" (but I do like to generally eat these things as well, not just during a binge). If that makes any sense. So it's almost like nothing has really changed for my taste buds (except I'm not eating a huge bag of chips). But I do not eat these things when I feel badly and want to stuff my face out of emotion, as I know this might lead to a full blown out binge session.
