stomach will not get flat after an operation! I need help

Hey, I had an operation on my lower abdomen in December 2011 (kidney donation) and when they closed me up apparently rather than doing it in a straight line they create a kind of drawstring effect under the skin, with a straight scar over the top. The result of this is that my belly button is now raised/ bulged, if not actually an outy! I have been dieting and exercising and more recently have started doing 200-300 crunches a day but that little bulge will not go down! It doesn't feel like fat but more liquidy... softer.. nice description I know!
Does any one have any knowledge or experience on how or if it will ever go away? My doctors seem clueless, maybe they have never had such a shallow donor before, but im 21 and want to look good as well as being a good person!
