Tips for Trying Out a Personal Trainer

So, I work for a university, and thus have access to not only a really inexpensive gym, but also really affordable sessions with personal trainers through it. As I've been cautiously more interested in learning about weights -- seeing if maybe learning how to do it properly makes it more interesting -- I'm thinking about trying this out.
I know plenty of people here have used/are personal trainers. What would you recommend going in? This is totally unfamiliar territory for me.

Do you have specific goals? or just general fitness? Most "trainers" are ok for general stuff, or beginning training. But if you have specific goals you want a specific type trainer, ask what they train for themself, and ask about others they have trained.0

Not all trainers are good, so here are some perspectives on how to choose a good one:

My specific goal is learning how to use weights in proper form -- I have no idea how to really lift at all and have a hard time learning from watching. I feel like I'll benefit from having someone say, "Okay, do this -- no, that's incorrect, like this." I always tell people I learn best by having my mistakes corrected, lol.
Thanks for the links! I'll have some reading to do over the weekend.0
