water intake question

So I seen before that people add water that they mix with things (tea, protein shakes, etc) on to the water counter. I don't generally do that, and only log straight water, but should I be adding the other? For instance, I just made a protein shake with 12 ozs of water...should I add that or not? I guess it doesnt make a HUGE difference, but I am just curious. thanks.

You should count it. Remember that your body is going to take whatever you consume, mix it all together, break it all down, and eventually use it at a molecular level.

    Meeting the Recommendation

People consume 80 percent of their daily water in beverages, and 20 percent of their daily water in foods, according to the USDA. The USDA does not place the value of any one single source of liquid water above another. You can get clean and safe mineral-rich water straight from your tap, or purchase bottled water.

Water is also present in just about every food that we eat. Water-bearing fruits such as apples, oranges, and melons are good dietary sources of water and can help you get you fulfill your daily water needs. Each serving of fruit contains one-half cup of water.

Just stay hydrated...there's nothing magical about getting X amount of water. I've never even bothered logging water...seems a little ridiculous to me unless you really have hydration issues.

Post bariatric patients may have trouble staying hydrated (may sip, no gulp), so we are asked to track our water consumption. I don't bother recording in MFP. I load up my big water bottle and make sure I finish one daily.
