How many calories would you say is in this?

Just a simple yellow box cake, vanilla frosting, and a small scoop of cookies n creme ice cream, not sure how to log it...thanks

You can probably find some generic entries which will give you a rough idea as to how much they are. But my best guess would be 500 calories.0

I would log 500. Its probably slightly less, but better safe than sorry.0

Look up the name of the box cake. Find the entry for that food. Log the amount you ate.
Look up the frosting. Log how much you ate.

I don't know about the rest of you, but 400 calories from my daily allotment is a hell of a lot for what (to me) wouldn't even be that tasty a treat!
Not a judgement, not telling anyone they shouldn't eat that, not saying it's "bad" food - just observing it doesn't fit my lifestyle or goals.0 -
I don't think it was necessary to add the guilt trip to the forum. There are times and situations when everyone eats something that doesn't necessarily fit in with there goals but it doesn't mean they are a failure!

It wasn't a guilt trip. It's just an observation that even plates that look pretty darn innocent - which that one certainly does! - can be tricky when trying to live under a caloric deficit.
Kudos to the OP for getting a second opinion - pretty sure that was initiated by some level of concern about what was being consumed.

Personally I treated myself to a piece of carrot cake the other day that was probably 400-500 calories on its own, and it left me with plenty of calories for the rest of the day to meet my goals. I eat very small breakfasts (a cup of greek yogurt and coffee with a little half&half and sugar) because I have little appetite in the morning, which means I can consume plenty of my 1800 calories later in the day.

Depending on the size of the plate, I think some of you might be aiming high on the calorie estimate. I'd say that's about 50 g of ice cream (I measure out a 100g serving every night, I'm getting good at it, LOL) and a fairly small piece of cake, single layer with only a small amount of frosting.
A scan of the database gives 1/12 of a WHOLE CAKE (the entire box of mix, so a whole 9x13 pan or 2 layers of a 8 or 9 inch round) as 230 calories, with frosting clocking in at 47 cal per Tablespoon. I think that's smaller than a "serving" of the cake, so maybe 175 cal? Then call it 100 cal of frosting, so 275 total, then Hood Cookies and cream icing is only 150 calories per serving, and that looks lighter than one serving, as I said before.
I bet OP clocked in at 350 or 375 at most with that plate, unless the plate itself is HUGE and I'm mis-judging portion sizes. Meh, birthday party, it's fun...certainly not anything to fuss over, even if every calorie was surplus.0 -

Depends on context. On most days, eating that would make it impossible for me to make my macro and calorie goals. Others will be fine. Only OP can answer for themselves.

Thanks for the responses, I wasn't sure how to log it because I didn't have access to the labels. I normally don't eat this sort of thing but my family made it for my birthday...0
