Making it a lifestyle

A little background - I've struggled with weight since elementary school. I started playing football and got in pretty good shape, gained some confidence, etc. When football ended though, I kept eating like a football player.

A year or two after that, and a couple rejected dates later, I decided I'd lose weight. Coupled up MFP with a pretty nice workout routine and from May to August dropped 45 pounds. I loved how I looked, I gained a ton of confidence, and eventually a girlfriend.

Then college classes resumed. I worked 30+ hours a week, went to class full time, and had a newly found girlfriend. Finding time to workout became hard, and I let myself slip into eating unhealthy when going out on dates, etc.

My relationship failed, I've put on 65 pounds, and I got my degree and an office job. I have no excuse for not getting in shape (not implying my relationship was an excuse anyway) - I have time to prepare meals, eat at a regular schedule, and time after work to get fit. So that's what I'm going to do. Started Monday, and I'm going through this with a few of my family members, so there's a great accountability system in place.

Let's do this MFP peeps. I've got goals, you've got goals, let's hit em and go even further.

-Will

what i'm taking from all of this, is that you're interested in very shallow girls that care mostly about aesthetics.

i mean, don't get me wrong, looking good and being healthy is something that is important in a relationship.

good luck in eating healthy and working out. hope you can stick to it.

Thanks for your feedback. I was worried that was part of what was coming across, which is why I tried to explain a little.

What I was trying to say was the first time I did it, a lot of it was to look good for girls. I agree, and that's part of why I didn't stick with it.

My relationship failed for a few reasons, none of which had to do with my weight gain. I'm not doing this for girls now. I'm doing it for me.

Hope that clarifies a little. Thanks for wishin me well!

i get it. i was 22 once too, and thought that being lean and in shape would make me more desirable to the fairer sex.

Good luck mate, as you have said confidence will come from looking after yourself and working hard in the gym. I'm sure you will achieve your goals.

I'm 44 and was on my way to losing 100 pounds, then my 11 year marriage fell apart and I turned to food. I'm trying to get back on track and make it a lifestyle. I thought I was there and yet when the *kitten* hit the fan, it was too tough for me.

Every day I have to start fresh and work at not berating myself for messing up. I'm glad to see someone as young as you with such awareness. You can do it, I know I can get back on track too. Good luck!
