Porridge

hey all,
I've been trying to introduce porridge oats into my daily diet. I use the little pouches that you put in the microwave. I add almond milk (as I don't drink regular milk). Today I added a little honey to try make it taste nicer but I'm struggling with the taste and texture.
Any ideas how to make this nicer? I have also tried adding my Vanilla Whey Protein but that wasn't nice at all.
Thanks

Check out the post called 'calling all oat meal lovers' loads of ideas on there. Personally I like apple or sultanas and cinnamon.0

If you don't like it, don't eat it.0

Why do you want to eat something you don't like? The only way I will eat oatmeal is in oatmeal cookies, lol!0

I use oat milk and I also include a banana, blueberries and whey powder. Works for me.0

It is a lot more effort but try some of the non microwave versions, the quick cooking versions all seem really mushy and bland. I eat Bob's organic steel cut oats almost every morning now. I make them with a handful of Ocean Spray Craisins tossed in. It takes 15 minutes to but I make my lunch at the same time.0

Are you forcing yourself to eat this in order to meet your fiber goal? There are plenty of other items that can help you reach this goal, like vegetables, fruit, quest bars, fiber one items, hemp protein powder, cereal.0

I eat oatmeal with oats, water and salt. Usually way more water than called for on the directions, so it's quite soup-y. I love it plain with just salt, but don't favor the texture when it is super thick/gummy.
I don't use the kind in packets just plain ol' oats (ingredients:rolled oats). Is there maybe some flavoring in the packet that you don't like?
Also they make different cuts of oats that cook up in different textures.
But yes I too question why you are trying to eat them if you don't find them yummy?0 -
I go here for all my oatmeal inspiration http://www.theoatmealartist.com/
however, there's really not much to do if you don't like the texture. Maybe try steel cut oats though?0
