if I was eating 2400 calories before and my maintenance is 2250, could I lose on 2250? Also I've been trying to eat a more normal amount and I currently land between 1850-2050 can I still lose a noticeable amount?

As long as you eat under maintenance you will lose weight.
The general rule is for every 0.5lb you need to be 250 calories under.

So if you maintain at 2250 you will not lose weight if you eat around or more than that.
    1850-2050 is 0.5 - 1lb (ish) loss per week.
But weight loss is not liniar so some weeks you may lose less, some weeks more.

Well, you won't lose weight eating at maintenance. If you were maintaining on 2400, you've got it wrong - that's your maintenance. You'll lose weight eating fewer than whatever your maintenance level is.

It dependes. You give us too little info. How tall are you? How much do you weight? What is your activity level? Acorrding this you should calculate your cal needs. Wish u luck ! :)

If your maintenance is 2250 and you accurately eat 2250, then you will neither gain nor lose.

If you were eating the 1850-2050 then you would lose c 0.5lb a week over time. IF your calorie count is accurate and bearing in mind weight loss doesnt always go down in a straight line becayse the body responds when it wants to.

Oh okay, well basically I think I was gaining before but slowly over time so I didn't notice it until my jeans stopped fitting oops :) I was eating 2400 a day thinking that I had an active lifestyle but I think it's actually only moderate so it went down. But if I ate at 2250 after eating 2400 would those few extra pounds come off and then I'd have to lower my intake again? I try to eat as little as I can but obviously going from 2400 to 1700 isn't an easy jump.
